::Meal Of The Month::

Thanks to the suggestion from the reader (who answered our question on the side bar) we are adding a new feature to the blog, Meal Of The Month!!!

We are going to kick off this feature with a mouth watering, French comfort food that is super easy to make!

TOURTIERE (Meat Pie)

1 pound lean pork, ground
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ground mace (You can substitute this for allspice, ginger, or cinnamon)
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 cup water
Pie crust for 2-crust pie (You can use Pillsbury Frozen Pie Crust to make this step a breeze)

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.  Combine all the ingredients except for the pie crust.  Blend thoroughly.  Simmer, covered for 30 minutes.  Stirring frequently.  Roll out pie crust.  Use one sheet to line an ungreased pie plate.  Pour meat mixture into the plate.  Cover the pie with the remaining sheet of pie crust.  Seal the edge with water and crimp the crust.  Prick with a fork to allow steam to escape during baking.  Bake in preheated oven for 10 minutes.  Reduce the heat to 350 degrees and bake for 35 minutes longer or until top is golden brown.  It's done, yum yum!
